What role do you have at CNVH?

I graduated from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain) in 2004 and came to the UK in 2005. I completed a rotating internship at Davies Veterinary Specialists (Hertfordshire), before taking up a position at a busy mixed and exotics practice in Bedfordshire where I worked for 14 years; initially as a mixed vet and then as the Head of the Exotics and Zoo Medicine Department, seeing mainly first opinion and referral exotic and zoo cases. I moved to Chippy in May 2020 to further develop the first opinion and referral exotic service.

What are your special interests at work?

I really enjoy the variety of seeing small animals as well as exotics and zoo patients. I hold the RCVS Diploma in Zoological Medicine with a Reptilian subspecialty and am an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine. I enjoy all aspects of medicine and surgery of exotic pets and I am the head veterinarian for Woburn Safari Park. I am the Junior Vice President of the British Veterinary Zoological Society, the veterinary organisation for vets working with exotic pets, birds, zoo animals and wildlife.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my young family and my pets (a crazy miniature Schnauzer and my two cats). Travelling and socialising are also favourites.
