Welcome To Chipping Norton Veterinary Hospital

COVID-19

The situation with regard to COVID-19 is changing rapidly, and the advice is changing with it.  As of the time of writing (24th March), to minimise spread of COVID-19:

•  Although the country is in lockdown, be assured that if your animal is suffering, veterinary attention will be available.  Veterinary practices throughout the country will be open, but working at reduced capacity.

•  During the lockdown, we will not be providing certain routine procedures, which will be postponed until after the lockdown.  These include, but are not limited to, booster vaccinations of adult dogs and cats, and neutering (castration or spaying) of dogs.  This is to both protect our staff, and to reduce the spread of coronavirus more generally.

•  If your animal is ill, please call us.  Serious cases will be seen.  For less serious cases we may advise 'watchful waiting' or ask you to come to pick up medicaiton.

•  If you bring your animal to the practice, please minimise the number of people who come with you, and please wait in the car park and call us to tell us you are there.  This applies to everybody, not just those self-isolating or ill with signs of coronavirus.  But, please do tell us if you are self-isolating or ill with coronavirus symptoms.

•  If you are self-isolating or ill with coronavirus symptoms, if possible, please arrange for a friend or family member to bring your pet to us.

•  We hope to see most dogs outside the practice.  For other species, we will examine some pets inside while the owner waits outside in the car park.

For the duration of the lockdown, we will be closing at 5 pm rather than 7 pm, but we will still be providing a 24/7 emergency service.

Our branch in Begbroke will be open 9-5 weekdays, but closed on Saturdays.  Our small branches in Bloxham and Burford will be closed most days.

There remains no evidence that pets, including dogs and cats, can become ill with COVID-19, or that they are actively involved in the spread of infection to humans.  However, like other physical objects, they may be contaminated with the virus and so could potentially contribute to spread in that way.
